It’s easy to praise God when things are going good in our lives. But when we face hardships and it seems as though nothing is going right, is praise still our first response? Generally not. It’s not our natural reaction to praise him when things are not going so well. In fact in those moments it’s easier to complain and question the activity of God in our lives.
Learning to praise God despite the circumstances in my life helps to keep me focused on faith. I believe that even though I can’t always see the activity of God, I can trust his character and trust that he is working on my behalf.
The discipline of praise makes sure my mouth works for me until my heart has a chance to catch up.
