Earlier this year I went on my first ever missions trip to Malawi, Africa. I have to admit I was scared, but it was something I just knew God was asking me to do. About a month before the trip I began getting up early every morning to pray and seek God in preparation for the trip that I knew would be a stretch for me emotionally and spiritually.
While I was on the trip we got up early every morning with the team to pray before we set out to do whatever was on the agenda for the day. I remember thinking, man this is a great discipline to connect with God and realign my heart before the rest of the day begins. I felt like God whispered to me in that moment and said that it wasn’t a discipline, it was a strategy, and one I needed to implement every single day.
So, when I came home from the trip I continued to get up an hour early every morning to pray. This wasn’t a normal routine for me and to be honest it was a difficult stretch. But, the fruit of what has come out of that time alone with God in the morning has made a tremendous shift in my life.
Today I’m sharing with you exactly how I use that hour every day and what I’m praying for before the rest of my day begins. This is a super practical no guilt message about realigning ourselves with God on a daily basis. Whether you take an hour each morning or simply a few minutes on your drive to work, the shift to realign your heart with the heart of God is one you can’t live without.
